We are pleased to currently be running a number of skills-based group-mentoring programs. Some of the programs that we are currently running, include:
Clowning Around - Mentoring Matters in Lanark County
With support from the New Horizons for Seniors Program, four Senior Clown Mentors recently mentored 23 participants from two local schools. The Mentors and participants came together on a bi-weekly basis to develop new skills in the art of clowning, eventually sharing their newfound skills with the community.
Some topics covered during the program: character development, decorating a costume vest, make-up and visual presentation, kazoo making/playing, juggling, ballooning, card tricks, skits, and puppetry.
Expression Sessions
New this Spring, Expression Sessions is a program run out of the YAK Youth Centre in Perth, Ontario.
Youth over the age of 12 are matched on a one to four ratio with a fully-screened adult mentor. Youth have the choice of attending a number of arts-based sessions, including: Drama, Guitar, Voice, Drums, Freestyle Visual Arts, and Self-Defence.
Participants meet at the Centre on weeknights from 4pm to 5pm.
