Fashion Supporting Friendship and Fellowship Jewel’s Gently Used Clothing will be holding their second fashion show. Models will be sporting a variety of fall fashions September 18th, at 2 p.m. at Port Elmsley Hall, to support two worthy causes. This years’ event will be a joint fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters and Bethel and Lombardy United Churches. A wide assortment of fashions has been donated by Jewel’s Gently Used Clothing in Perth and Smiths Falls. One of the recipients of the proceeds is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County, a local children’s charity. The agency provides one on one and group mentoring programs for over 200 children throughout the County. The local agency does not receive government funding so relies on fundraisers such as this one to provide their mentoring programs to local children. The other recipient will be Bethel and Lombardy United Churches, who will be using the proceeds to support the work of the two churches. Jewel’s was launched exclusively to provide sustainable funding for Big Brothers Big Sisters to fund mentoring programs for at-risk children in Lanark County. The vision of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County is that every child in Lanark County who needs a mentor has a mentor. The benefits of adequate mentorship are significant and essential to healthy development of youth. Fashionistas to the fashion challenged alike can make a difference in the life of a child by coming out to the fashion show to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County and Bethel and Lombardy United Churches. Come out to enjoy the show and the homemade desserts that the United Church ladies are famous for. Tickets are $10 (children under 5 are free) and available at both Jewel’s Gently Used Clothing Stores in Perth and Smiths Falls as well as the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County office.
