Lanark County's Big Brothers Big Sisters opened 'Jewel's,' a gently used clothing store, in Perth on Saturday, June 5. The new store in Perth will join its sister store in Smiths Falls, as a means of raising both money and awareness for the agency. Jewel's will be accepting gently used clothing and small household items, and its store hours will be Monday to Saturday 9a.m. - 5p.m. Jewel Purdon, the namesake for the stores, first came up with the idea of creating sustainable fundraising for the non-profit organization through second-hand clothing sales. Joining staff and Board Members at the grand opening were Jewel Purdon, Perth mayor John Fenik, MPP Randy Hillier, and 'Little' Kelsey.
